Over the next couple hours, with Xia’s help reading the other players’ hands, the game had whittled down to just Kaol, Dys, and Renee. The Human woman was good. Xia studied her. Attractive, too. But she could be read, and Dys could not, so she was next to go.

Renee looked around the table, just her, the Ferengi, and the dopey Romulan left. She was likely not winning this tournament. But the top three will get her some prize money. The Ferengi was probably cheating, as was the dopey Romulan and his companion. There was only one way to test her theory. As the next hand was being dealt, Renee conjured up the most erotic mental images she can. Recalling many passionate nights with her and Ash during the good days, she looked at her cards but focused her thoughts on the mental porn in her mind. If her mind was being read, at least both parties can enjoy it. She threw some chips in the pile, "Ante up, boys."

Kaol was pleased that he made it this far. Victory was in sight. "I'm in."

Xia raised an eyebrow at what she was now getting from this Renee woman. Damn. She must have some training. Xia felt her body responding to the images. It made it difficult to get to a sense of what cards she had. Well, perhaps two could play that game. Telepathically, Xia made a few changes to the memories, and soon Renee was having hot, carnal sex with Xia in her head distracting her from the game. Enough distraction that Dys won the hand, putting Renee out of the game.

Kaol smirked arrogantly at Renee as she left the table. Excellent, victory is in sight. Now it's just him and a Ferengi; surely his superior Romulan intellect would prevail.

Renee barely acknowledged the dopey Romulan. She definitely bit off more than she could chew by taunting the Betazoid -- not to say it wasn't an enjoyable experience. She made her way to the woman that was in her mind and sat down next to her. "Well played. So what are you drinking? I feel like after that," Renee tapped the side of her head, "I owe you that much.”

Xia smiled beautifully. “Long Island Iced Tea,” she said. “And I could thank you, too,” she said with a chuckle, though she’d deliberately shielded herself from many of the effects of the intimate mental touch. Of course, she could have made the woman orgasm right there at the table. “I’m Xia,” she introduced herself. She didn’t admit to cheating. There was no way the woman could prove that.

Xia let Kaol play his cards. There wasn’t much she could do to help him. She could maybe tap some of the spectators standing behind Dys and catch a glimpse of his hole cards, but that would be difficult.

Renee smiled knowingly. "I'm Renee." She took her drink from the bartender and sipped it while very obviously checking Xia out. "I'm also glad to finally put a name to that face... among other things..."

Kaol glanced over at Xia. Of course that Human woman was flirting with her. Not that he needed assistance to defeat a Ferengi. He looked at his cards, they were acceptable.

Dys taunted him. "This is why you will not profit! Distracted by a hew-mon female."

Renee noticed the dopey Romulan's glance in their direction and smirked at him before turning her attention to Xia. "So... are you and that Romulan together...?"

“Strictly business,” Xia said with a smile. “After he cashes in his chips, my evening is free,” she informed Renee, sipping her drink. “Might be I could use some company, if you’re free.”

Renee returned Xia's smile. She may not have won at poker, but she is definitely winning the night. "So... do we have to wait for him?"

Xia considered, eying the game. “Looks like it won’t be much longer.”

That turned out to be the case. Without Xia’s help, Dys was whittling away at Kaol’s stack of chips, and now he put all in.

“Let’s let it all ride, Romulan,” Dys said with a sneer. “Or are you, what do the hew-man’s call it? Chicken?”

Kaol looked at his hand. It was strong, but not great. He didn't have many chips left to continue playing. It could very well be possible that the Ferengi was bluffing. With little left to lose, Kaol pushed the remainder of his chips to the middle of the table. "I call your bluff, Ferengi," he said arrogantly.

Dys revealed his hand and laughed in Kaol's face. "It was a good game, Romulan, but not for you. You not only lost the game. I think you lost your woman too!"

Kaol looked over at Xia and the Human woman and sighed. This was not the way this night was supposed to go...

He walked over to Xia and Renee, dejected, "Well, Xia, I hope you got what you came for..."

Renee smirked at the dopey Romulan before focusing her attention at Xia. "I sure did..." She leaned in and whispered in her ear, "Now can we get out of here?"

Xia looked to Kaol. “One more thing,” she said. “Go talk to Ketacyn, the bartender.” She nodded toward the outer bar. “I’ve given her the information she wanted. She’ll give you a data stick with the upgraded translation matrices. Give it to me tomorrow. Then the night is yours,” she told the Romulan doctor.

Xia turned to Renee. “And yes, now we can get out of here,” she said, grinning.
