Mission: Chapter III: The Hunt is On
Location: Medical Bay, IRW Ourainavassa
Timeline: 238702.03

After the meeting with Hatham and Ash had concluded, Raven made her way to the medical bay. Although she had introduced herself to the Romulan pilot, Seira, when she first got on board, they had not had much interaction since then, as she was still undergoing treatment for her new, prosthetic arm. Nevertheless, with the Ourainavassa soon going back into action, having another pilot ready to take over from Miles Lynn if needed would be a definite boon.

As she stepped into the room, she immediately spotted Doctor Gable and Seira in conversation, while "the best surgeon in the quadrant" was nowhere to be seen. She chuckled inwardly as she thought of Kaol's bravado. So far, the Romulan had maybe not proven his words, but he had certainly been a good addition to the crew's medical department.

Casually, she strode over to the two women, and quietly cleared her throat. "Doctor Gable, Sublieutenant Seira," she said, in a friendly tone. "Good that you are both here. I'd like to check in on the progress of your rehabilitation."

"She's doing well," Gable reported. "We expect a full recovery. Still a bit of work to do acclimating to the prosthetic, but she's made impressive progress."

"Ma'am." Seira straightened to perfect attention with the sort of overkill-attention-to-detail that those more recently fresh from training often had. "I look forward to returning to duty."

Raven smiled. "I am glad to hear it, Sublieutenant. We can certainly use another skilled pilot. Tell me, when do you think you will be able to return to the bridge?"

Seira opened her mouth to answer, then apparently thought better of it in the presence of so many people breathing air above her paygrade, and instead glanced over at Gable for an answer.

Nancy noted the hesitation and nodded approvingly. The woman had some decent survival instincts. "For only the bridge, I can release her for duty tomorrow. BUT no combat training or strenuous exercise for at least week, and we'll want to see her for regular checks."

The colonel nodded. "What about combat duties? As in, flying the ship in a combat situation?"

"Tomorrow?" The doctor's brows raised. "No." She knew how being sidelined would hit a Romulan officer, but she wasn't about to okay something that might put everyone at risk. "In a week or so, probably, but it depends on her progress."

Raven sighed. "You are the doctor, if that is what you say. But she will be approved to familarise herself with the ship and get ready for full duty, right?"

"Yes. That's the point of approving her for light duty after all," Nancy replied flattening her lips against a frown. She knew no one liked her decision, but it was honest and medically sound.

Seira flicked her eyes back and forth between the two older, more senior officers; silent by training until finally speaking after an awkward silence. She wasn't sure what was going on between the two, but she had no desire to be in the middle of it. "Am I dismissed, ma'am?" She kept her gaze in a neutral spot, trying to cover both women at once with the question.

Raven nodded. "Report to the bridge at 0800 tomorrow morning for duty. Sublieutenant Lynn will supervise you familiarising yourself with this vessel and be there to answer any questions you may have."

She turned to the doctor. "Please keep me updated on the status of her recovery, and let me know immediately once you feel she is fit for full duty."

"Of course," Nancy replied, and waited a beat for Seira to move out of ear shot before giving Raven a direct look. "So just how soon are we expecting to be in combat?"

"In about a week," Raven replied. "We are planning an ambush on Vulture. I was going to inform you once the plan is more fleshed-out, but since I am here, I may as well let you know now. There will be boarding parties involved, so expect some casualties to come your way."

Nancy nodded. "I appreciate the advanced warning." Her mouth went a little sideways. "Maybe I'll have time to convince 'the best doctor in the quadrant' that combat surgery is different than operating in a hospital theatre."

Raven chuckled. "As long as nobody performs emergency amputations with a bat'leth, I am sure everything will be fine. If you need to stock up on any supplies or equipment, let Gedak know. I've informed him already that both medical and the kitchen have pre-approval from me on any requisitions."

"Thank you. I'll get to it." Nancy smiled. "And I promise, no amputations by bat'leth. Unless we have boarders."
