Into the raptor’s nest

Mission: Prologue: Before the Inferno
Location: Starbase Verelan-Hdrael
Timeline: 238612.14

Verelan-Hdrael

The Dominus was simply enormous. One-third longer than a D’deridex and twice the height, the Haakona-class ship dwarfed the other vessels as it dropped out of warp in the Devoras system.

Still, as she approached the Verelan-Hdrael space station, the Dominus felt quite a bit smaller. A hub of not only the Imperial Navy, but also the Legion, the station was one of the largest in the empire. The massive central-structure tapered outward in a cone shape, at the top of which intersected three massive arms. The arms stretched outward before flaring into a sort of inverted-pyramid shape.

Smaller vessels crept in and out of the massive Starbase, while larger ones docked at the edges of the arms. The Dominus sided up to one of these arms, in a maneuver that never ceased to make Areinnye’s stomach flip with nerves. The portside wing of the warbird came within tens of meters of impacting the station. When it was all over and the ship safely docked, she quietly blew out a breath and then addressed the crew gathered on the bridge

“Alright, engineering team, power down the AQS generator and pull power from the station for critical systems until a new generator can be installed.” She said to Kerika and t’Relis

“Lieutenant T’lan, I expect your science team to finish analysis on the planets we investigated within 24 hours. Lieutenant Sianae, we need our compliment of photon warheads replaced from Verelan-Hdrael’s cache, and another shuttle to replace the one used on the Gorn ship.”

“Sub Lieutenant Sotabe, I’d like a full analysis of our cloaking systems. Before that ship went for the shuttle, sensors showed they had altered course towards our ship. I need to know why.” She said to the cloak officer

“Lieutenant Valrek, I realize this is unorthodox, but we still haven’t replaced our chief of security. Until we do, please ensure that the Dominus’ security does not lapse.” She asked of the tall officer

“Centurion D’taev, you’ll need to replace your missing Commandos. Do whatever it takes as I realize Romulus has kept many of the Reman troops for crowd control.” She finished.

“I know we have been away from home for a while, but frankly I’d be shocked if we aren’t called back into action within a week. I expect reports from each of you on the fitness of your department. Dismissed.” Areinnye said.
