Physical Description Taryn is a short organic synthetic human female with short blonde hair and hazel eyes. She was designed by Doctor Keith Atkinson to be a mirror image of his youngest daughter.

Taryn's main functions are controlled by a positronic brain, whilst her mechanical parts are lubricated by a silicon-based compound which she is required to consume on an irregular basis. She does not need to eat, drink or sleep, however, Taryn is capable of doing so if she chooses.

With strength well surpassing that of the average human, Taryn can easily hold her own in hand-to-hand and melee combat against much larger opponents. Her physical strength also allows her to carry much heavier objects than an average human is capable of managing single-handed.

Taryn is immune to oxygen deprivation, telepathy, disease, gases, intoxication and radiation, however, her operating systems are extremely vulnerable in conditions where ion concentration is high. Taryn is also highly vulnerable to electromagnetic pulses and weaponry.

Personal History Following the death of his daughter Chloe in 2377, just a few months after her 21st birthday, Doctor Keith Atkinson started work on designing an organic synthetic humanoid in her image. It took Atkinson around a year to design and then build the synthetic human who would later become known as Taryn. During her design and construction processes, she was given the designation AV3 by her creator.

Taryn was activated on Mars, however she and Atkinson soon moved to an uninhabited Class M moon in the Beta Quadrant, following the completion of Kestrel, a one-off shuttlecraft designed by Atkinson during his time at Starfleet Research and Development. Upon arrival on the long abandoned and isolated moon, Atkinson set up a state-of-the-art research lab, where he continued his research into artificial life.

For the first few years of her life, Taryn primarily helped Atkinson with his research, as well as travelling to nearby worlds once a month to retrieve supplies. However, in 2382, Atkinson determined that he was suffering from Clarke's disease, and his death occurred eight months after the onset of his symptoms. After holding a funeral for Atkinson and burying him in the garden of their house, Taryn departed.

Taryn quickly found work in mercenary groups, although seldom stayed with one group for more than a year at a time, either through boredom, mistrust or not receiving what she deemed was a fair payment for her services. Taryn's former caring and compassionate nature, which she'd gained by assisting and then caring for Atkinson, had been replaced by a cold, self-centered attitude.

After three and a half years of being employed as member of several different crews, Taryn spent six months working alone as a bounty hunter and a courier. Although financially rewarding, Taryn found working for herself left her with little free time, and so in late 2386, she reluctantly decided to return to working as part of a crew.
