Personal History Batsheva Olmert is a child of Aliyah Colony. The third child and second daughter of David and Judith, she was her father’s favourite from the moment she was born. In the eyes of her father, Batsheva could never do anything wrong.

She was, however, always destined to disappoint her father. Batsheva did not want to marry and be a good housewife. She wanted to join the military and be a soldier like her brother. Batsheva idolised her Dad, so went along with what David wanted for her, until she turned sixteen.

At sixteen, Batsheva rebelled and joined the military. It was there she met and fell in love with another cadet, Shira Ben Asher. They quickly began a secret relationship, which was discovered by David. David disowned his favourite child, ejecting her from the family home.

In solidarity with her girlfriend, Shira left her own family home, despite her parents’ acceptance. With nothing but the belongings in their backpacks and their love for each other, they became survivalists. Doing anything, going anywhere to be together.
