Personal History The only child of Avraham and Naomi, Shira Ben Asher was born in the capital city of Aliyah Colony. Her father was a well-respected rabbi, her mother a teacher. An only child, Shira never wanted for anything.

Growing up, Shira always wanted to join the military. Her parents were keen for her not to follow this dream, encouraging her to follow in her mother’s footsteps. This was not what Shira wanted. She was adamant she wanted to join the military.

On her sixteenth birthday, Shira applied to join the military academy. She was accepted as a cadet, although her dream was replaced by a new one when she met Batsheva Olmert. They started a relationship, quickly discovered by David, Batsheva’s father.

Just three weeks after turning sixteen, despite Avraham and Naomi willingly accepting her relationship with Batsheva, Shira chose to leave the safety of her family home to be with her. Their nomadic, survivalist journey began.
