Forsaking The Righteous Path

"Computer, begin a personal log, Doctor Sorak." The command came as the Vulcan civilian wandered from the front of the Romulan runabout he was aboard to the back of it. A momentary pause occurred as he looked out the viewscreen, taking in the view of the previous ship he had been upon and eyed the next he was heading to.

"The months have been long as of late. While I have found an adequate challenge in working amongst the flotilla as a doctor having to do so while securing supplies from traders, fighting off looters, and keeping a low profile has provided enough challenges. Ship to ship amongst the flotilla what I see is a people in need and in the midst of their evacuation they have been forgotten." Sorak found himself sitting down, hands wrapped around the tea he had replicated before the log had been started. Taking a moment to sip on it, he thought of his growing emotions on the matter at hand.

"I have tried hard to balance my frustration with finding logic in Starfleet and the Federations recent decisions. They claim that resources have been expended in an attempt to assist the Romulans before the star explodes. So now they are ready to give up. It is a betrayal to the very fundamentals of the principals we are supposed to uphold. For all of the talk and show about the righteous path and morality, the Federation wishes to show to the rest of the galaxy it is in moments like this that its glimmering light fails.

That is why I am grateful I have leave built up and my Captain was willing to grant it to me, knowing full well I would end up staying here, continuing my work. I have met up with members of the Reunification Movement and traded in my uniform for civilian clothing, though I keep my medical kit and phaser with me at all times. At some point, I have a feeling the armory back on the ship may realize I forgot to turn that in. The clothing though keeps the Romulans comfortable around me, for the most part. Suspicion is still in their nature for which I fear only time will mend. But now, now I got see what I can do to further the care of these people. And out here where the Federation has forsaken them it may come to me learning to find the gray amongst that bright beacon I once saw lit."

From the front of the runabout, a call came out to Sorak informing him they had arrived at the next ship in the flotilla. Here he was to meet a Romulan General and thanked apparently for the work he had done in helping secure supplies for them. Posturing is what it was. He would do what was required however and then move on to check on those in need. Perhaps help plant the seeds of reunification where he could. That is all he could do, for now.

"Computer, end log."
