Mission: Chapter VI: Racing the Storm
Location: The Neutral Zone
Timeline: 238612.21

Raven stood on the bridge of the second Raven's Claw, her Klingon-Romulan hybrid Bird-of-Prey. Four months ago, the vessel had been fitted with what the Terrans called a Stamets Device - the same spore drive that was installed on Captain Mannerheim's timeship, I.S.S. Amelia, albeit somewhat less advanced. While allowing for jumps between universes, this version of the spore drive was not capable of time travel. Since then, the system had undergone rigorous testing, until the Emerald Chain was satisfied that it was safe to operate. Now, a handful of the Chain's most elite vessels had been equipped with Spore Drive technology, including Vulture's flagship, the Emerald Raptor, and Raven had nearly caught up with her own timeline. What had begun as an operation to discover the true identity of the Vulture had become much more - she had been inducted into the Zhat Vash and become the Vulture's right hand. Now, all that remained was to bide her time.

"Colonel, we have arrived at our destination."

The Colonel smiled. When the mission assignment had arrived, she had finally realised what was going on - she was about to be involved in a predestination paradox. "Proceed as ordered," she confirmed to her bridge crew as the order to attack was given.

Not long into the battle, much of the Romulan refugee flotilla had been disabled and boarded. Only a few vessels remained - and Raven knew exactly which one to target next. "Over there, the hospital ship. Disable their shields and prepare boarding party."

Two minutes later, the ship's shields had been disabled, and the boarding parties had been dispatched. Anxiously, Raven watched the status reports coming in. The crew and passengers of the Sianna were putting up far more of a fight than had been expected - but, of course, Raven had known that. More and more of the boarders she had sent over were lost.

"Colonel, new orders from the Raptor". Raven suppressed a smile as she turned to her tactical officer. "We've been ordered to let the hospital ship go. All other vessels have been taken and extraction is nearly complete."

"Understood." She turned to the tactical display shown on the viewer, revealing that the boarding parties had been completely eliminated. "Our work here is done. No boarding party members to retrieve, so let's get out of here."

"Well done, Raven." Vulture smiled at the Colonel as she sat in her command room on board her flagship, the Emerald Raptor. "Now, I have a new job for you. Escort the haulers to Ankana. Their cargo is much too precious to risk losing it."

Raven simply saluted to acknowledge the order, and turned to leave the room. Finally, things were beginning to fall into place.
