State of the Sim: 23 Sept 21

Jolan tru!

Well, haven't done one of these in a while, have I. But I think it's time to make these a more regular habit again. So here we are.

Quite a few things have happened in the sim lately, and let me just say, I am darn impressed by the writing and storytelling you all are doing. We dealt with finally coming face-to-face with Vulture, nearly got our ship blown up for the troubles, lost a few people, and it was all written beautifully. I especially loved our little excursion into what I like to call Star Trek: M*A*S*H with all the hilarity around our extremely dysfunctional medical department.

Then we met our new Terran allies, and the shenanigans there were just absolutely priceless. This story really has it all, high-tension drama, a splash of romance, a hearty side of comedy.

We've also got a few new faces on board. First, we have Five of Eight, liberated Borg Drone currently locked up in the brig, who will join our engineering department once the implants are removed. And then we have Mavis Vermillion, rogue Terran captain who was executed as a traitor by the Empire - but survived the destruction of her ship in 2410 and ended up here with us. An excellent character written by an outstanding player that I have worked with in the past, and am very excited to have here with us.

Lastly, of course, the question is, where to next? There are two major events that need to occur before this "season" of our story concludes. The liberation of the refugees from Vulture's asteroid base, and, of course, the Battle of Hobus. I won't spoil too much, but I will tell you this - the XO and I have started to make plans, and it will be one hell of a ride.

Of course, the aftermath of Hobus is pretty set in canon - Eisn blows up and takes Romulus with it, shattering the Romulan Star Empire and causing one of the greatest humanitarian crises in all of Trek history. What isn't set, however, is what will happen to the Ourainavassa and her rag-tag crew of dysfunctional misfits. And I'll be honest, although we've had a few ideas, nothing has been decided yet. We shall enter that wormhole when we get to it.

That's all for now, keep up the good work!

Col. "Raven" T'Varis
Commanding Officer
I.R.W. Ourainavassa
